The Conference of the Parties (COP) and Meeting of the Parties (MOP) are the governing bodies of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) and its Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products, respectively. These meetings bring together governments and stakeholders to review progress, adopt decisions, and strengthen global tobacco control efforts.
The Global Alliance for Tobacco Control (GATC) plays a vital role in these processes by actively engaging in COP and MOP sessions. For over two decades, we have led, coordinated, and convened civil society to accelerate the implementation of the WHO FCTC at global, regional, and national levels.
To facilitate meaningful progress, GATC provides strategic leadership, technical expertise, and advocacy support. We offer evidence-based resources and analysis, and we ensure the voices of civil society are represented in decision-making spaces. Our contributions include policy briefs, bulletins, and other tools that support delegates and stakeholders in shaping effective tobacco control policies.
